Battersea Ironsides Women

  • 14 – 49 v Barnes Women

Battersea Ironsides Women are undefeated this season and sit at the top of Women's Championship South East 2.

Captain Kate Wilderspin said: "November saw three massive victories for our 1XV at Battersea Ironsides Women, both away and at home. Having been promoted into the league last season we are so pleased to have started our second season in Champ 2 with consistent wins and scoring some great tries.

"We have two full teams here at Battersea Ironsides Women, and we train as one squad so there’s an incredible sense of community within the 2XV and the 1XV. We’re always celebrating each other’s successes, so I think we really thrive as individual teams knowing we have another full group of 20+ girls out there mentally cheering us on during their own game too. It makes you want to do well for the badge. The shared success during November has been amazing and we can’t wait to continue the hard work into 2024!"

Esher sit at the top of National League 2 East and won all their games in November. Top points scorer fly half Sam Morley has played in all their games in November and scored tries against North Walsham and Sevenoaks.

“The team have worked extremely hard over the last month, with some strong performances and standout attacking rugby against some really tough opposition sides. It is great news that the lads have been rewarded as team of the month,” said Director of Rugby, Peter Winterbottom.

"Our success in November has truly been a team effort - fourteen different try scorers in the three games is testament to that," said Coach Dave Read.

"The morale and team spirit amongst the group is the best I’ve known and that’s credit to the players, the rest of the coaching team and the support from the wider club. Even after some impressive wins, the ladies are always keen to push on and drive stronger performances. I can’t wait to see what the rest of this season holds for the team!"

Macclesfield

Men’s Level 5

Regional 1 North West: P3 W3

  • 11 – 24 v Leek
  • 34 – 26 v Blackburn
  • 5 – 33 v Anselmians

"November has been a month of consolidation with three league fixtures including (at the time) top of league Blackburn," said Director of Rugby, George Edwards. "The strength in depth of our squad and talent of the coaches, medical team and strength and conditioning personnel gave us the edge we needed in a busy month with often challenging match day conditions.

"The win over Blackburn was a highlight with the Macclesfield defence giving a big Blackburn side few attacking options; and denying them a losing bonus point with penalty in the final minutes. The players are loving every minute as we head towards the Christmas break and the group mantra of #ProtectTheTeam just shows how tight this group are, effectively - All for one and one for all!"

Winning Team of the Month proves that the decision of going into the RFU league structure giving us regular fixtures has been a great success.”

“Over the last two years, we have worked hard to bring former 1st, 2nd and 3rd team players back to the game, as well as ex-colts who had stopped playing rugby after going off to university."

Director of Transition and B Team Coach Danny Bayes said: “There is a great buzz throughout the club at the moment, with the 1st team playing well and sitting 3rd in their Level 5 League, the A team pushing for places and the B team Top of the league, plus the Colts growing in confidence week on week, the future is bright at Burton, and long may it continue.”
