Pitch Up For Rugby returns

Pitch Up For Rugby returns between 4-12 September, and the Rugby Football Union (RFU) is encouraging people across the country to head down to their local clubs to join together in a national celebration of rugby’s return.

Pitch Up will run over two weekends, 4th and 5th September and 11th and 12th September. Clubs that wish to take part on either or both weekends can register their interest here.

The events will be an opportunity to recognise volunteers who worked tirelessly to keep clubs going during the pandemic and are now able to enjoy the new season.

Rugby clubs have done so much to support their local communities during such testing times. It will be fantastic to see people from those communities, players, coaches, volunteers, match officials and sports fans turning out to support their clubs.

You could be a lifelong rugby player, entirely new to the sport, or just looking to see what your local community club has to offer. The events are as much about celebrating being together again and there will be plenty of people on hand to show you what being part of the rugby family is all about.

Rugby to suit all tastes will be available across the country, including the return of full contact 15-a-side rugby, Covid guidelines permitting, as well as modified contact such as X-Rugby and non-contact Touch, Tag and Ready4Rugby. Many clubs will also host Warrior Camps, which are free rugby taster sessions designed to introduce or reintroduce women and girls to the sport.
