The clearest message from young players is that they want to play alongside their friends as part of the team. 

Players, parents and coaches also tell us that being equitable and inclusive with all players is important to them.

That’s why from September 2019 the half game rule comes into regulation in the Age Grade game in Age Grade clubs, schools and colleges.

The rule ensures that everyone in the match day squad gets to play at least half the game time available.

The half game rule is being introduced following voluntarily implementation in the 2018/19 season and a trial in local club and school competitions in England.
